Future Penn State running back Nick Singleton earned another prominent accolade on Wednesday.

His high school career has been full of them over the years, breaking school and regional records. Now, the future Penn State Nittany Lion is considered a five-star player in the On3 Consensus, moving up 14 spots to No. 25 nationally. For perspective, the On3 Consensus currently has 32 players with a five-star rating.

“Nick Singleton’s senior year just marks continued development,” said On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power. “He’s been absolutely dominant at that level – which is what you want to see from a top back. Singleton’s combination of size, burst and physicality paired with his stellar production bodes very well for his long-term projection. His overall profile is that of a future early round draft pick and there are very few if any holes to his game.”

The On3 Consensus is an equally weighted ranking that considers all four major recruiting services – On3, 247, Rivals & ESPN. It’s different from the 247 Composite, which is tilted towards 247’s rankings. This is the one true ranking that considers all four sites the same.

Singleton’s rise to five-star status began two weeks ago when Power and our scouting staff upgraded the Penn State commit to a five-star player on Nov. 19. He ranks No. 20 overall according to On3, as well as No. 1 at the running back position.

He now holds the exact same ranking according to 247Sports, which why our Consensus ranking now rates Singleton where it does. The other two scouting services, ESPN and Rivals, rate Singleton No. 53 nationally and No. 127, respectively.

For his senior season, Singleton racked up 2,059 yards rushing on 162 carries, scoring 44 total touchdowns. He totaled more than 6,400 yards rushing and scored 115 touchdowns throughout his prep career.

In addition to Singleton, Penn State quarterback commit Drew Allar also made a small jump in the On3 Consensus, moving up seven spots to No. 37 overall. Just like Singleton, Allar was also named a five-star by On3 last two weeks ago. He’s the 11th-ranked player nationally and the No. 1 quarterback according to our staff.

Allar ranks No. 3 nationally now according to 247, while ESPN and Rivals rate him No. 36 and No. 195, respectively.

Penn State currently ranks No. 6 in the On3 Consensus team rankings with less than two weeks to go until the early signing period. The On3 Consensus credits the Lions with one five-star player (Singleton), as well as 15 four-star commitments. Georgia holds the top spot, followed by Alabama, Texas A&M, Ohio State and Notre Dame rounding out the top five. Clemson, North Carolina, Texas and Oregon make up the rest of the top 10 in that order.
