Penn State has been well-represented in all-star games so far.

The first of three national high school football all-star games took place on Sunday, with Team Icon beating out Team Legend in the Under Armour All-America Game.

Future Penn State wide receiver and Ohio native Kaden Saunders sat the game out due to a minor lower-body injury, but both running back Kaytron Allen and offensive lineman Drew Shelton had solid performances.

Allen was especially notable, leading Team Icon in rushing. He finished the game with 14 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown. Both Allen and Saunders are set to enroll at Penn State this upcoming Sunday, Jan. 9.

But before we get to that, it’s time to switch our focus to San Antonio, Texas, for the All-America Bowl. Just like in previous years, the game will be played at the Alamodome this upcoming Saturday, Jan. 8. Kickoff is set for 12 pm ET and the game will air nationally on NBC.

This will surely be a game Penn State fans want to tune into.

Penn State Players

Penn State has four players slotted to participate this week, including the team’s top three signees. All four will play for the East squad.

All eyes will be on quarterback Drew Allar, who’s now considered the No. 1 quarterback in the country according to On3. After throwing for more than 4,400 yards and 48 touchdowns his senior season, everyone will be looking to see how Allar performs against the nation’s best defensive players.

Running back Nick Singleton, defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton and linebacker Keon Wylie are also set to travel to San Antonio. Singleton, who recently won the Gatorade National Player of the Year award, will be expected to shine, as he’s done in every setting over the years.

Dennis-Sutton and Wylie may be the more intriguing players to follow, however. Wylie has never participated in the spring camp calendar, so this will be his first opportunity facing some of the nation’s very best players. Dennis-Sutton was excellent on the camp circuit this past year, but we haven’t seen him go against some of the nation’s best offensive linemen with pads on.

All-America Combine

In addition to the game on Saturday, the 2022 National Combine takes place Friday in the Alamodome. A complete list of participants hasn’t been finalized yet, but previous years have featured at least a dozen or more Penn State offerees.

Starting at 7 AM and running until 6 PM CT, the National Combine will see underclassmen from all over the country test in a variety of drills, including the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, vertical jump, broad jump, etc. There will also be positional drills.

The event will feature around 600 players total from just about every state.
