Penn State wide receiver target Keylen Adams announced his top four schools Monday morning. As expected, the Nittany Lions made the cut with for the Virginia Beach, Va., native. The other three schools are Pitt, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

“I feel like those are the schools that are putting in more effort and showing more interest,” Adams told On3.

Listed at 6-foot, 175 pounds, Adams’ visit history suggests that Penn State head coach James Franklin may end up duking it out with his former defensive coordinator, Brent Pry, who’s now in charge at Virginia Tech. So far, Adams has taken four visits to Blacksburg, including a trip just over a week ago on Jan. 28. He also attended two games, as well as a visit back in June 2022.

Penn State has hosted Adams three times so far. Just like Virginia Tech, he attended a junior day last month, traveling to State College on Jan. 14. The other two visits were for the game against Ohio State in October, as well as the Lasch Bash Barbecue at the end of July.

Pitt and West Virginia combined make up just three of his 15 total unofficial visits. His last trip to Pittsburgh was in Nov. 2022, while his last trip to Morgantown, W.Va., was way back in July.

Following the departure of Taylor Stubblefield, Penn State hired former Virginia wide receivers coach Marques Hagans two weeks ago. Adams is still getting to know Penn State’s new position coach, but they have had a few conversations.

“When we did talk, we had a deep conversation about the sport itself, not so much the school,” Adams said. “At the time, he was at UVA, but I still think he’s a good coach because he knows what he’s talking about.

“For Penn State to make him their new wide receivers coach is a good thing. I feel like once he gets comfortable with the system and playbook, they will have something good going into this upcoming season.”

On3 rates Adams No. 120 nationally. He’s also the 15th-ranked wide receiver and third overall in Virginia for the Class of 2024.

He’s leaning towards taking a few official visits this summer before deciding.
