Penn State’s annual summer camp schedule is out and the Nittany Lions will host several on-campus gatherings for prospects to perform in front of the staff in June and July. So far there are seven dates set for camps in Happy Valley. NCAA rules allow 10 evaluation days in June and July when prospects can work out. Penn State will host three Elite Showcases and a pair of team camps in June. The Nittany Lions have also scheduled one camp during the open period at the end of July.

Registration has yet to open up on Penn State’s official camp web site.

Changes from previous summer camp slates

There are a few changes from the 2022 schedule for the Nittany Lions’ staff.

Penn State added Wednesday camps to its schedule last summer. This year they’ve cut it down to just one Wednesday camp. The Nittany Lions moved to two team camps in 2019 and brought the practice back last summer. Those weekends typically draw big numbers of not only teams from around the state but also prospects whom the staff is recruiting.

The Nittany Lions also left some flexibility in the schedule for 2023. Seven of 10 days of possible evaluation are accounted for on the schedule, which leaves room for what they called mini-camps last summer. Those mini-camps featured smaller numbers, but they also happened on days in which the Penn State staff hosted other recruiting visits, such as the Lasch Bash.

As has been the case for the last few years, Penn State will also be able to host official visitors in the 2023 class for the weekends in June.
