Penn State faces a dangrous, but unranked team

Penn State enters today’s game as a top-five team, and before the season, this was seen as a potential battle for a spot in the Big Ten Championship, with significant postseason implications. But the game has a very different feel after USC’s 3-2 start. How does all of that play into the preparation and mindset of the team? We’ll discuss that, plus the challenges of traveling to the West Coast for a game and Big Ten teams’ struggles so far. We’ll also catch you up with the latest news on the team with our insight and features.

First, we’ll discuss the most dangerous part of the matchup for Penn State, the team’s secondary, and its battle with quarterback Miller Moss. Tengwall discusses the matchup in his Keys to the Game segment. From there, we’ll discuss the rest of the defenisve matchup. Can the front seven dominate the game and control the flow? Or will USC be able to get yards and points on the team’s defense, unlike previous opponents?

Penn State offense banged up?

Next, we’ll discuss the Penn State offense and its performance from last week. The team was without star running back Nick Singleton, who was a game-time decision but ultimately sat out. Midway through the second quarter, star right tackle Anthony Donkoh with a shoulder injury.

While Singleton should be back, Donkoh remains a question. How can the team overcome the potential loss of one of its best offensive linemen? We’ll discuss how Singleton may be the key factor in today’s game if the offense gives him room to run.
