Penn State news and notes for April 11 include a basketball transfer portal update plus a key recruiting visitor in football and more.

It’s time to dive into Tuesday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with basketball. Former Penn State forward Caleb Dorsey entered the transfer portal after the 2022-2023 season. The Westminster, Md., has now left it. According to an announcement on his Instagram page, he will play next at William & Mary after three seasons in State College.

Dorsey is one of five Lions from last year’s team who entered the portal. However, he is the first former Penn State men’s basketball player to pick his next school.

In other news, Penn State will host a group of prospects from Philadelphia Imhotep Charter for practice on Tuesday. The list includes Class of 2025 four-star defensive lineman Zahir Mathis. A top 50 player in the On3 Industry Ranking for the sophomore class, Mathis will be making his second trip to State College.

Mathis stands 6-foot-5, 230 pounds, and has offers from all over the country. He is expected to take additional visits to Penn State and elsewhere in the months ahead.

Finally, for this section, we’ll highlight an ESPN report that says Sean Clifford will visit the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday. It’s a top 30 visit, which means the NFC North franchise is using one of its few opportunities to bring a draft prospect in on Clifford, who of course started four of his six seasons at Penn State.

Quote of the day

“I spent about four or five hours Friday when I was there and I just spent time with the coaches. We went over the defense, the role I would have there and what I would be doing if I went there. They broke things down for me and gave me a good look at how I could fit in. I spent the most time with Coach Deion Barnes and coach Manny Diaz. We went over a lot, and then I was able to spend time with Coach Franklin, too.”
