Who were Penn State's top competitors for Friday's winter workouts?
Penn State’s football program completed its sixth of eight winter workouts. They’ll have two more next week, which is followed then by spring break. When players return, they’ll begin spring practice on Tuesday, March 14.
Offensively, both quarterback Beau Pribula and running back Nicholas Singleton were named top performers by their respective coaches. Pribula has earned the nod five out of six times now. Singleton was named the top competitor twice previously.
Penn State’s other offensive positions all saw players earn that recognition for the first time. At wide receiver, redshirt freshman Kaden Saunders took home today’s award. The other two were both won by recent enrollees, as tight Joey Schlaffer and offensive lineman Anthony Donkoh were acknowledged for the first time.
On the defensive side, we saw some new names emerge as well. Defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton was named the competitor of the day by Penn State defensive line coach John Scott Jr., while cornerback Kalen King was recognized by Terry Smith.
We then saw repeat winners at linebacker and safety. January enrollee Tony Rojas has earned the top linebacker award twice now, while safety KJ Winston was recognized for the third time.
Penn State special teams coordinator Stacy Collins also recognized kicker Sander Sahaydak as his competitor of the day. This was the second time that Sahaydak was recognized.
