The Penn State Nittany Lions Football team hosts SMU for the first round of the College Football Playoff. To get fans and the media ready for the game, head coach James Franklin spoke with the media on Monday to discuss the matchup, his team’s progress over the off-week, and more. Also, offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki spoke after Franklin during the playoff week festivities. Penn State vs. SMU preview
Of course the biggest news in the last 24 hours is that backup quarterback Beau Pribula announced his decision to transfer after the team held its exit meetings for the regular season last week.
“Growing up in Pennsylvania, it has always been a dream of mine to play football for Penn State,” Pribula wrote. “Wearing the blue & white these last 3 years has brought me some of the greatest moments or my life. The current NCAA post-season model creates a challenge for student-athletes. The overlapping CFB playoff & transfer portal timeline has forced me into an impossible decision.
“After speaking at length with my family and coaches, it is with a heavy heart that l announce my intentions to enter the transfer portal and depart from the team to explore opportunities elsewhere.
Franklin commented on the situation when asked about it on Monday.
