The Penn State receivers have been a talking point for the team since the end of the 2024 season. After adding transfer Kyron Hudson and Devonte Ross this offseason, the team has a new-look receiving corps for camp. Franklin was pleased with how the unit progressed.

“So, I was pleased with what we did this spring in the passing game. I was pleased with the wide receivers, not only the receivers that have been on our roster and their development. I think you guys saw tysere make some plays today, which was great too. But then obviously, you guys really got your first look at Hudson and Ross and both of those guys, we think have very, very bright futures, but we’re going to need competition throughout the entire room.”

Franklin also was asked about his linebackers. The team had issues with depth this spring with young players stepping into bigger roles.

“So, you know, the young guys have taken some steps. Anthony Speca is doing some really good things. Probably had the most complete, consistent spring, from a grade standpoint, things like that. Kari [Jackson] is super physical,” Franklin said about his young players.”

Team breaks for summer

The Nittany Lions will now break camp and begin individual work during the summer months. The team will then reconvene in late July for training camp ahead of the 2025 season. Penn State faces Nevada to start the season on August 30.
