Penn State preparing for Auburn with heat and noise

Franklin opened with his review of Ohio and how his team performed the week before. Next, he gave a rundown of the players that stood out to the Penn State staff on film.

His first question deals with his freshman quarterback Drew Allar. How has he progressed, and where is he in his development? Franklin shares his praise for Allar.

From there, he answers questions about how he’s tried to prepare his team for the heat of a game in the south and the hostile environment of the SEC. Franklin describes how the staff has used different tricks to prepare the team for what’s to come and how much preparation they put into showing the team the gameday environment, so they aren’t surprised by it.

Media members also ask Franklin about the type of game that Penn State will face on Saturday. So, has his staff gotten enough of an understanding of the Penn State run defense to know if they’re ready for Auburn? Is this the type of game in which linebacker Tyler Elsdon and defensive tackle PJ Mustipher can shine? Franklin discusses both.

Finally, Franklin discusses several individual players and his evaluation of their performance against Ohio. He gives his thoughts on Abdul Carter, Olu Fashanu, Adisa Isaac, and Omari Evans. Lastly, he discusses his receiving group and his level of comfort with the depth and speed of the unit.
