Penn State banged up heading into the game against Ohio State
While Franklin didn’t discuss the details of his team’s health, as is his policy, his team did have obvious injuries this weekend. Penn State right tackle Anthony Donkoh sustained another injury and left the game after the second quarter. Starting quarterback Drew Allar followed him shortly afterward with a likely knee injury. Allar tried to play in the second half but told Franklin he couldn’t execute the offense in his current state. At least, that’s what Franklin told reporters after the win in Wisconsin.
It was, ‘Is he going to be mobile enough to give us a chance to run the offense the way we want to run the offense?’ And it really came down to Drew once he came out. I asked him to be very honest, and he just didn’t feel like he was [able to] and even like at the end of the half there you saw even throwing was challenging.”

On Monday, Franklin addressed the situation with Allar this week.
“Yeah, I think he’s played enough football for us that that that timeline will go all the way up to the game. Really, I do think, from a practice perspective, we’re going to have to, no matter where we’re at on Tuesday, we’re going to have to get both of those guys reps Tuesday and Wednesday. But it’s just, it’s, it’s too early to tell at this point, but he’s played enough football that I think that decision will go all the way up to game time, but the reality is, we’re going to have to have both guys ready,” Franklin said.
