Penn State head coach James Franklin spoke with the media after the team’s third open practice of Spring football on Tuesday evening. Franklin gave updates on the team’s progress in the last week when asked about individual players and positional progression. Penn State progress update

The Penn State defense has been hard at work installing a new defensive system under coordinator Jim Knowles. How has that been going through the first several weeks of camp? Franklin was asked how the team integrated new ideas and plans with Knowles while fast-tracking the learning process.

“I think good. So I think you kind of have our expectations of how it’s going to go based on our last defensive coordinators that we’ve had and how their installs have gone in terms of tweaking what we do defensively. And then you also have Jim’s time at Duke, his time at Oklahoma State, his time at Ohio State, and how he’s refined his process of being able to put it in. And then also spending enough time with our defensive staff saying, what does it need to change? So I’ve been, I’ve been very pleased,” Franklini said

Spring Football Calendar

Penn State has just one open practice left for the spring before the Blue-White Game on April 26th. The team will meet with the media again next Tuesday before wrapping up spring practice the week of April 21.
