Hours after the Penn State Athletic Department demolished the Beaver Stadium press box, Penn State football head coach James Franklin held his first press conference in preparation for the team’s showdown with Notre Dame. The team found out its next opponent a day later than expected but will face the Fighting Irish in the Orange Bowl in Miami next Thursday. Hear Franklin’s complete comments on the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel or embedded in this article.

Due to the construction at Beaver Stadium, today’s press conference was held at Pegula Ice Arena.

Penn State faces tough test in Notre Dame defense

Penn State’s path to the College Football National Championship has been favorable, with ACC foe SMU and Mountian West Champion Boise State in the first two rounds. Now, the team faces traditional power at Notre Dame, and its top-five defense in college football. However, Franklin is proud of his receiver room and thinks that deep threat Omari Evans can change the math for his team.

“Omari has a superpower, but he’s starting to really learn and embrace all the other things that go with it. I mean, if he comes down, he made a great catch on that one down the sideline, and then when he hit the ground, wasn’t able to finish it. But that place still scares people when you see it on tape, right and and he’s gonna, he’s gonna make those plays,” Franklin said
