It’s White Out week for Penn State’s football program! Head coach James Franklin spoke with the media on Wednesday evening after practice to update them on his team’s preparations for the primetime clash with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Hear Franklin’s full comments about the upcoming game here or on the Blue White Illustrated YouTube channel.

Penn State preparing for Iowa

Franklin discusses his team’s health and focus heading into the game, which Franklin noted is a fa opponent earlier in the week.

“We played Iowa more than anybody. Maybe you could make the argument part of maybe the best team in the West over our team here at Penn State. You could make that argument. Again, we love that. We’re appreciative of the Big Ten for that. I know it’s random – random,” Franklin joked on Tuesday.

Franklin offered this assessment of defensive tackle Coziah Izzard when asked how he thought the veteran defensive tackle played in his return to the field.

“I think he did some good things. A you guys know, he’s big, strong, powerful. He’s athletic, he’s quick. Made some mistakes and things that we got to knock the rust off with. But, overall, I thought he played well and he gives us another legitimate defensive tackle inside, which is a position that’s challenging to develop depth at. I think he has a chance to be special. He just needs more reps and more experience, but it was great. It was great having him back.
