Penn State hires Bill Queisert, Andy Kotelnicki's 'right hand' man at Kansas, to analyst position
Penn State football is hiring first-year offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki’s right-hand man to join him in State College. The Lions have added former Kansas analyst Bill Queisert to the same role on what will be James Franklin’s 11th staff in blue and white. According to LinkedIn, Queisert has been with the Jayhawks since 2020. He started with the Big 12 school as its assistant offensive line coach. He then moved up to a quality control role. In Feb. 2023, he became an offensive analyst and described his role as “act as right hand for the Offensive Coordinator and assist in the Coaching of Tight Ends and Offensive Line, in conjuction with the development of the offensive unit.”
Before arriving in Lawerence, Queisert was a graduate assistant at Arkansas State. There, he focused on the offensive line. He has also been the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Simpson University. A Kansas City native, he played at Division-II Williams Jewel. He was an offensive lineman and three-time team captain. He also started his coaching career there.
Tracking Penn State offseason changes
Queisert is the first offseason addition to the analyst staff. He fills a role that was vacated by Ola Adams. He was defensive analyst, of course. Now, he is the new defensive backs coach at Indiana. He will focus on the safeties.
“Ola, as we all know, especially the people that cover Penn State closely, Ola did a great job when he was the defensive coordinator at Villanova,” Lions coach James Franklin said at Big Ten Media Days back in July. “A lot of people that I know from the DMV thought very highly of him, so he’s a guy I’ve been tracking for a while.”

Michigan prepared to offer No. 1 recruit $10.5M over 4 years
Adams is the second member of the staff to leave and the first to do so since the end of the 2023 regular season. Offensive coordinator Mike Yucich did so involuntarily, of course. He was fired before the regular season ended. Will Penn State lose any more staff members? It’s still too early to say. Diaz is reportedly interested in the Duke job. Another analyst, Robb Smith, has plenty of on-field experience and could desire to return to a positon coach or coordinator role. Other Nittany Lion staffers could be targeted for promotions, as well. Andy Kotelnicki, of course, replaces Yurcich as the Penn State offensive coordinator.
As for the players, punter Alex Bacchetta, safety Jace Tutty, and receiver Cristian Driver are all in the transfer portal. Others could join them there in the days ahead. The team is preparing to face Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl. Kickoff is set for Noon ET on Dec. 30 in Atlanta. ESPN will televise the game.
