Penn State gets big win in Class of 2023

Under head coach Micah Shrewsberry, the Nittany Lions are heading on an upward trajectory in recruiting. The team has secured back-to-back top 30 classes and has a collection of talent on the floor that Bauer thinks will perform well. They start the show by discussing the recruiting class that signed this week, which consists of four-star stretch four Carey Booth, combo guard Logan Imes and shooting guard Braeden Shrewsberry. Bauer breaks down each player’s game and what they bring to the class. Then, he chronicles the path of Shrewsberry and Imes to Penn State and how he thinks both are undervalued in the recruiting landscape.

Next, he discusses Booth and the player’s top-50 potential. How high is the ceiling, and what will it take to get there? Finally, Bauer and T-Frank discuss the Penn State legacy’s abilities.

Lastly, they finish the recruiting discussion by looking at the misses in the class and the areas to improve. Bauer points to the Penn State staff’s ability to identify top talent before others in the industry but highlights the inability to land those players. He also shares what he knows about the NIL situation at Penn State. T-Frank digs into what he knows about the big picture of where Penn State football is, how basketball fits into the picture at Penn State, and in the national landscape.

Next, they move on to the current team, and it’s DNA. Bauer is very high on the team, led by veteran Jalen Pickett. The veteran basketball reporter has high praise for Pickett’s game and thinks that he’s in line for potential postseason awards. Bauer also shocks T-Frank with a prediction about the 2022-23 basketball team. They discuss the strengths of the team and the potential weaknesses that will hinder them during portions of the season.
