Penn State holds firm in Coaches Poll after win over West Virginia
Penn State fans couldn’t have asked for much more this past weekend. Not only did the Nittany Lions get the win over West Virginia Saturday night, but quarterback Drew Allar passed just about every test the Mountaineers threw at him in his first collegiate start.
His performance – 325 yards passing and three touchdowns – earned Allar Big Ten Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
Now, the focus switches back to the team, as both the updated Coaches Poll has also been released. Despite an impressive win over a Power Five opponent, however, Penn State held firm at No. 7 overall nationally.
With Florida State defeating LSU on Sunday night, the top seven in the Week 2 poll largely held firm. The Tigers dropped down to No. 14 overall, with the Seminoles replacing them at No. 5 overall.
You’ll find plenty of changes after that, however, with Washington moving up all the way to No. 8 following its dominant win over Boise State. Tennessee and Texas round out the Top 10 ahead of this weekend’s marquee showdown between Texas and Alabama.
Spots 11-20 saw the majority of teams move up two spots each. North Carolina was the biggest mover among that group of schools, moving up four spots to No. 16 following its win over South Carolina.
