Penn State-Indiana wrestling to stream for free on Sunday on B1G+
Snow is not in the forecast for State College this weekend. But, winter weather is impacting much of the Big Ten over the next few days. And, that is good news for Penn State fans. The conference’s television station, Big Ten Network, announced Friday that its streaming arm, B1G+, will be accessible for free during live events today, Jan. 12, through Jan. 14. That matters to Nittany Lion wrestling fans, as head coach Cael Sanderson’s top-ranked team welcomes Indiana to Rec Hall on Sunday. The 1 p.m. dual meet is set to air on B1G+. While you’d usually need a subscription to watch it, that won’t be the case this weekend.
“Winter (Sports) Weather Advisory All B1G+ events will stream free this weekend (1/12 – 1/14) ** Live events only — does not include on-demand full and condensed game replays or @BigTenNetwork Originals/classic games,” BTN tweeted.
Fans can visit bigtenplus.com to learn more about how to watch the match and other Nittany Lion events on the streaming service over the next three days. Besides web browsers, B1G+ is also available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, and XBOX.
Penn State wrestling set for Big Ten opener
Sunday’s match between Penn State and Indiana will mark the first Big Ten match for the Nittany Lions. The Hoosiers will be wrestling their second match of the weekend. They are at Rutgers Friday night before coming to State College. Sanderson’s squad, meanwhile, has been off since beating Oregon State 36-3 last Friday night in Corvallis. The team will wrestle conference matches throughout the rest of this month and into mid-February.

“The exciting part is the competition, right? Big Ten season, I think it’s one of the best, competitive seasons, maybe of any sport in the country at the college level,” Penn State associate head coach Cody Sanderson said this week. “Big Ten wrestling just doesn’t really get better than that. And, if you love to compete, you’re wrestling in the Big Ten, and you’re getting ready for those competitions.
“We’re excited. It brings the best out of the best competitors. And, it’s not for everybody. There’s some guys that might need to wrestle in a different conference. But, we like to find the guys that like that challenge.”
