Penn State is in the mix for reclassified four-star corner Kevyn Humes
Penn State wrapped up its Class of 2024 recruiting last week, for the most part. The Nittany Lions have kept lines open, however, for certain circumstances.
On Christmas, On3’s Chad Simmons reported that Penn State was right in the thick of things for Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances cornerback Kevyn Humes. The catch? The Class of 2025 standout four-star is in the process of reclassifying to the 2024 class.
“Me and my family and coaches have been talking about this since the beginning of the year,” Humes told On3. “I got serious about it after our last game against IMG Academy and I made the final decision to reclassify about two weeks ago.”
Humes will now sign with a school in February and enroll after the spring semester. He has already locked in two official visits for January.
“I will be at Syracuse on Jan. 12 and Penn State on Jan. 19. I have never visited Syracuse, but Coach Fran Brown has been recruiting me since he was at Rutgers. We have built a good relationship. Penn State is a school I have visited three times and my relationship with Coach Terry Smith has skyrocketed this season. I am very familiar with Penn State.”

Humes had Penn State in his November top five
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect narrowed his focus to five schools — Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Oregon and Penn State — back in November. The Orange were added to the mix after Georgia assistant Fran Brown was brought on board earlier this month.
Humes has visited Penn State three times, most recently for the Michigan game in November.
“Coach Terry Smith is a main reason for Penn State being on [my] list,” Humes told On3. “He is a great coach and he has produced some top defensive backs. He had a first round pick last year in Joey Porter Jr and Kalen King could be next. That development has my attention.”
Humes is a four-star prospect by the On3 Industry rankings ahead of his reclassification. He’s the No. 36 cornerback nationally and the No. 7 prospect in Maryland in the next cycle.
