Penn State tweets of the day
We start with news about Beaver Stadium. The Penn State Board of Trustees meets Friday in State College. The online agenda lists an approval item of interest to Lions fans: “Proposed Sale of Alcohol at Athletic Events”.
It is expected to pass.
As previously reported by BWI and other media outlets, Penn State is aiming to sell alcohol in the public areas of Beaver Stadium for the first time. What is unclear, however, is whether those sales, which are expected to be approved, will start this Saturday when Central Michigan visits or if they will be implemented later this year. The proposed plan includes hiring numerous new staffers in addition to installing 140 mobile points of sale, among other things. Alcohol sales would end when the third quarter concludes. And, the stands would be located away from the student section. A two drink per transaction maximum would be put in place, as well.
BWI will follow the meeting Friday and report the latest.
“Penn State Athletics is constantly looking for ways to provide additional amenities to fans to improve the game day experience,” a news release said earlier this month.
“The 2021 Beaver Stadium Study suggested there was an ever-growing need to improve fan experience and amenities in a historical venue such as Beaver Stadium with one of those being the addition of the sale of alcohol in stadium.”

Quote of the day
“I do feel like we’re on track to be what we want to be and play the style of football that we want to play. “It’s been great having a vet like PJ [Mustipher] and Nick [Tarburton], who have been in the trenches and been in those battles, who are helping lead some of the younger guys that are in different roles and that are coming in and contributing. It’s been great.
“Those guys are kind of leading the charge for us, showing them the way, and showing them how. I think that’s really helped our group, [and] I do feel like as we continue to practice and get even more comfortable with what we’re doing. I do think the group’s best football is ahead.”
