Penn State is one of four schools left in the running for four-star Class of 2025 quarterback Matt Zollers. The Royersford, Pa., Spring-Ford standout has cut his list of 20-plus suitors to the Lions, Missouri, Georgia, and Pitt, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound On300 junior does not yet have a decision date in mind. He visited the Bulldogs, Tigers, and Nittany Lions during the January contact period. He also received a visit from Penn State coach James Franklin earlier this month before coach and prospect travele stopped for the winter dead period back on Monday.

“I haven’t really tried narrowing anything down yet,” Zollers told BWI sister site GatorsOnline in January. “I’m in basketball right now, so I was going to wait to take visits until basketball was over. We are trying to get an early jump. I was going to try to make a decision a month and a half after basketball was over. Everyone is equal right now.”

It’s unclear if Zollers will stick to that timeline or take spring and summer official visits before making his college choice known.

While announcing his shaved list, Zollers also discussed all four finalists in an interview with Fawcett. Here’s what he had to say about each school:

Missouri– “Everything about the staff up there is electric and it was just awesome to be up there.”

Georgia– “It’s great to know that Coach Smart and Coach Bobo are not going anywhere and will be there for a long time.”

Pitt– “I love what they are doing with the new hires and the new offense, and it would also be cool to play with my brother.”

Penn State– “It’s great to have a coach that is just the OC and a coach that is just the quarterback coach, and both of them work very well together in developing quarterbacks.”

With the Nittany Lions, he is talking about Andy Kotelnicki, who will oversee the offense while graduate assistant Danny O’Brien coaches the quarterbacks primarily with help from Kotelnicki and head coach James Franklin. At Pitt, his brother, defensive lineman Zach Zollers, joined the Panthers as a training camp walk-on before the 2023 season.

Penn State is Zollers’ lone finalists with a quarterback already committed in the Class of 2025. Colorado three-star Bekkem Kritza picked the program back in November. As of Tuesday, the Lions’ nine-man Class of 2025 sits at No. 13 in the On3 Industry Team Rankings for that cycle.
