Penn State tweets of the day

We start with a pair of recruiting updates. On3 director of recruiting Chad Simmons reports that Class of 2025 Columbia, S.C., Heathwood Hall Episcopal cornerback Onis Konabanny has cut his list of suitors from more than 30 schools to just 10. Penn State made the cut along with Florida StateLSUMichiganNorth CarolinaOhio StateOklahomaOregon, Tennessee and USC. The four-star and On300 junior was last in State College in March 2023. He would like to make his final decision before next fall.

“I have great relationships with all those schools,” Konanbanny told On3. “Each school plays great defense, develops cornerbacks like me, and most importantly, offers great degrees that can set me up for life. Those are the reasons those 10 schools are on top.”

In other news, Baltimore, Md., St. Frances cornerback Kevyn Humes has the Lions in his top six. Formerly a Class of 2025 recruit, he recently reclassified to the Class of 2024 and wants to enroll at the college of his choice this summer. Now, he has a top six. Besides Penn State, Notre Dame, Syracuse,  USC, Florida, Maryland are also in the mix. Humes, who is 5-foot-11, 170 pounds, has visits set to each of those programs except for the Terps at this point in time. He will be in State College Jan. 22-24.

Quote of the day

“It’s been awesome competing against the best guys. I’m building some really good relationships with all the players. The quarterback room is really tight, we hang out outside of the practices and everything. So it’s been a really cool experience.

“Then also just getting used to the speed of the game. Obviously, it’s way different. It’s the closest you’re gonna get to a college football game without being in college. So that’s been awesome. I’m just really trying to get used to it right now.”
