Penn State Nittany Lions football takes on the Maryland Terrapins from Maryland Stadium at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The game will air on Fox Sports 1.

Fourth Quarter

FINAL: Penn State 31, Maryland 14.

It was tight for a while, but the Nittany Lions emerge from College Park at 6-3.

2:39 TOUCHDOWN, Penn State: Ji’Ayir Brown steps in front of Tagovailoa’s pass and returns it 87 yards for a touchdown. Lions lead, 31-14.

10:40 Penn State’s defense gets another stop, and the Maryland punt bounces into the end zone.

11:42 Penn State returns the favor with a three-and-out of its own. Maryland has the ball at midfield after a shanked punt.

13:55 TOUCHDOWN, Penn State: Clifford hits Jahan Dotson for 86 yards and a score to punch right back. Penn State 21, Maryland 14.

14:56 TOUCHDOWN, Maryland: Tagovailoa finds Dyches for the score. Terps going for two looking for the tie. The ensuing two-point conversion is successful and the game is tied at 14.

Third Quarter

END 3: Penn State 14, Maryland 6. Terps have second-and-9 from the PSU 13.

3:15 Clifford misses Washington over the top on third down and the Nittany Lions go three-and-out.

4:36: FUMBLE: The Terps bring the ball into the red zone, but a fumbled exchange gives the Nittany Lions the ball back after Ji’Ayir Brown pounces on it.

6:51: TOUCHDOWN, Penn State: Clifford hits Dotson for 21 yards and a score. Penn State leads Maryland, 14-6.

12:34 A promising Maryland drive to start the half stalls at the PSU 36. The Terps will punt.

Second Quarter

HALFTIME: Penn State 7, Maryland 6.

1:15 TOUCHDOWN, Maryland: Challen Faamatau scores from a yard out. The PAT is no good.Penn State 7, Maryland 6.

2:56 Penn State’s drive stalls just inside Maryland territory. Stout punts to the MD 14.

6:45 Maryland gets out to its own 31 but no further and will punt yet again.

9:11 Penn State gets across midfield but stalls at the 42 and will have to punt. Lions lead 7-0.

14:24 Tyler Warren comes up short out of the wildcat on fourth-and-1. Did well to elude a defender in the backfield but couldn’t get to the sticks. Maryland takes over at its 32.

First Quarter

END 1: Penn State 7, Maryland 0

4:41 Maryland punts for its third consecutive drive. An Arnold Ebiketie sack got the Terps off schedule.

7:55 TOUCHDOWN, Penn State: Sean Clifford hits Jahan Dotson for 38 yards and a score. Penn State leads, 7-0.

9:28 A great play by Daequan Hardy on third down forces a Maryland three-and-out. Still no score here in College Park.

10:26 Penn State’s offense goes three-and-out again. Stout on to punt.

11:18: Maryland’s first drives starts promisingly but stalls in Penn State territory. The Terps will punt after an intentional grounding penalty moves them out of FG range.

14:06: Penn State’s offense goes backwards on its first drive. Lions will punt after a three-and-out.

Maryland wins the toss and chooses to defer. Penn State will get the ball first.

Pregame

3:24: Solid showing from the Penn State fans here with only a short time until kick. They’ll rival the Maryland fans in number with the stadium half empty.

3:09: It would seem that Ta’Quan Roberson is Penn State’s backup QB today, based on warmups. Christian Veilleux held that role last week.

2:39: Devyn Ford is out fielding punts in warmups. He did not travel to Ohio State last week.

2:32: It’s a great day for football here in College Park. There’s a breeze flowing through the stadium, but it’s warm for a November Saturday. John O’Neill will officiate today’s game.

Penn State stat leaders

Passing: Sean Clifford has completed 172 of 264 passes (65.15%) for 2,008 yards, 13 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

Rushing: Noah Cain has 258 yards on 83 carries through eight games and four touchdowns.

Receiving: Penn State WR Jahan Dotson’s 60 catches for 690 yards and six touchdowns are tops on the team in all three categories.

Defense: Middle linebacker Ellis Brooks is first with 62 tackles. End Arnold Ebiketie has a team-high 12.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. Safety Ji’Ayir Brown leads with three interceptions.

Special teams: Jordan Stout is 12 for 17 on field goal tries, has boomed 39 of 42 kickoffs for touchbacks, and averages 48.46 yards per punt, half of which have resulted in a fair catch.

Terrapins stat leaders

Passing: Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa sports a 70 percent completion percentage as he’s 198-of-282 so far this year for 2,384 yards (298.0), 17 -to-8 touchdown-to-interception ratio. He played well against Penn State last season.

Rushing: Tayon Fleet-Davis has carried 79 times for 399 yards and six touchdowns.

Receiver: Dontay Demus Jr., who is hurt and will not play against Penn State, is still the team’s leading receiver with 28 receptions for 507 and three touchdowns. The top pass catcher who is expected to be active is Rakim Jarrett, who has a 31-463-5 line.

Defense: Heavily recruited by Penn Sate, safety Nick Cross leads the Terps’ defense in tackles (46) and interceptions (two). Defensive lineman Sam Okuayinonu has a team-high five sacks.

Special teams: Joseph Petrino is 10 of 14 on field goal tries. Maryland uses two different punters, Anthony Pecorella and Colton Spangler.

James Franklin is 65-31 over eight seasons at PSU, and 5-2 versus Maryland. He seeks his 90th overall head coaching victory Saturday.

Mike Locksley is 11-20 at Maryland, 13-46 over six seasons as a head coach. His record is 1-2 against Penn State, with a win last season.
