Penn State football is back on the field today.

Penn State puts its 7-1 record and No. 11 spot in the new College Football Rankings on the line today when it visits Maryland (5-3). The Lions are in the middle television window this week after spending the majority of the season in the Noon ET window. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

“We got Penn State coming into The Shell this week, a team that has all of our attention,” Maryland coach Mike Locksley said this week. “I look at this week as a great opportunity for us here at home. Very familiar with their program. They’re very familiar with us. Their defense is one of those top-tier defenses. They play a lot of man coverage, which we have to be able to defeat. Their front seven is one of the best we will face. If you look at them on offense, it starts with the run game. Our goal will be to take the run away from them on the defensive side of the ball.”

On Wednesday, Penn State coach James Franklin praised multi-year Terrapins starting quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa.

“Yeah, really good player,” Franklin said. “Obviously, statistically, he’s number one in every category at the University of Maryland. They’ve had some good quarterbacks, all the way back to Boomer Esiason and Frank Reich, and a ton of guys that have played there. Obviously, the thing that makes him challenging is his, not only decision-making as a passer and the weapons they have around him, but then also his athleticism and his quickness and his ability to improvise. Those are the things that become most challenging.”
