Penn State men’s basketball opened up the 2022-2023 season with an impressive win over Winthrop, winning 93-68. Micah Shrewsberry’s team scored a school record 18 three-pointers. Preseason All-Big Ten guard Jalen Pickett led the Nittany Lions with 23 points, while also adding five assists, five rebounds and two blocks.

“This is how we want to play,” Pickett said following the game. “Last year, we had to play slow due to, you know, less people, less players. So this year, I think we have a lot of guys we can rotate and it’s just gonna help us play a more exciting brand of basketball.”

Blue White Illustrated photographer Daniel Althouse was inside the Bryce Jordan Center Monday night to take in all the action. Fans can check out his photo gallery below.
