Penn State NIL dominates the BWI mailbag show with Nate Bauer: Daily
Penn State head coach James Franklin met with the media yesterday, and the dominant topic of conversation was name, image, and likeness. Today, the BWI Mailbag is all about that conversation after Blue White Illustrated premium members latched on to the topic.

Recap of conversations with Penn State coaches and NIL questions
T-Frank and senior editor Nate Bauer start the show by discussing their conversations with Penn State coaches on Wednesday. Then, they get deeper into some of the topics they brought up on the BWI Daily Edition yesterday, filmed directly after the availability. T-Frank brings up the receiver position and what sort of players the team is looking for, based on his conversation with receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield. Next, Bauer discussed the offensive line and coaching the position with Phil Trautwein.
From there, they dive into the mailbag. Again, listeners were eager to discuss NIL. Questions dealt with the Penn State NIL collectives, which one the university works with, and how the future of college football might change. Ohio State coach Ryan Day’s comments, saying that his team would need $13 million annually to maintain their roster come up as well. Is that a fair number? Is it high or low? T-Frank and Bauer try to give context to that topic as best as they can.
Non-NIL conversation
Non-NIL questions center around new players that have joined the roster over the last few weeks. For example, what makes Demeioun Robinson a better defensive end than linebacker to T-Frank? One listener asks, and T-Frank describes what he sees on film from the former top-100 high school prospect.

Top prospects expected at Penn State’s 7-on-7 tournament Friday
Penn State hosted its first two camps of the summer this past weekend, and now James Franklin and his staff are preparing for another massive recruiting weekend. In addition to official visits, which will begin Friday evening and run until Sunday morning, Penn State will also host schools from across the Mid-Atlantic region for its first Lion Strong 7-on-7 tournament & Big Man Challenge.
The Nittany Lions will be hosting two 7-on-7 tournaments this year, with the second set to take place June 24. With some schools still in session, we expect the second tournament to feature more schools, but there will still be a handful of talented players on campus Friday.
Currently, we expect around 30 schools to participate. It’s unclear specifically which players will make the trip, but we’ll list the notable players below.
