Penn State already has one safety committed in its Class of 2023 in Florida native Conrad Hussey. However, the Nittany Lions are still pushing hard to add at least one more in the class.

One of the staff’s top remaining targets at the position announced a top list of schools Tuesday in Philadelphia native Rahmir Stewart. An On3 Consensus four-star player, Stewart included Penn State, along with Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon, Michigan and Texas A&M.

Stewart’s recruitment has been a quiet one over the past year, but he did take an unofficial visit to Texas A&M last summer. Penn State has hosted the Imhotep Charter defensive back three times dating back to 2019. His most recent visit was last September to see the White Out win over Auburn.

Currently, Penn State does not have him scheduled for an official visit this summer. All signs have pointed to Stewart making a decision late in the process, likely during his senior season or potentially after. Because of that, we expect James Franklin and his staff to hold off until the season.

With that said, Penn State would like to get Stewart on campus for an unofficial visit this summer. He’s been scheduled to visit a few times since last season but has been unable to make the trip.

As for the other schools, Georgia appears to be a serious player following the addition of defensive backs coach Fran Brown. Previously at Rutgers, Brown has a long-standing relationship with Stewart. It also helps that former Imhotep Charter safety Tykee Smith had a successful year in Athens after transferring from West Virginia.

Texas A&M should also be a serious player here. In addition to defensive line coach Elijah Robinson, who recruits Philadelphia and parts of the northeast, the Aggies also signed teammate Enai White last year.

Currently, Stewart is ranked No. 234 nationally in the On3 Consensus ranking. He’s the 20th-ranked safety at No. 4 overall in Pennsylvania.
