Penn State adds coveted transfer prospect Demeioun Robinson
Penn State received a massive addition via the transfer portal Tuesday in defensive end Demeioun Robinson.
Originally a member of the Class of 2021, Robinson was highly-coveted coming out of Quince Orchard, Md. He earned well over 30 scholarship offers, with Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M among the top programs. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic beginning in March 2020, his visits were limited. Penn State hosted him twice in 2019, while Tennessee and Virginia also got him on campus a few times.
It ended up being the in-state school, Maryland, who had recently hired Mike Locksley a few months prior, that won out, earning Robinson’s commitment at the end of March 2020. Penn State was never able to get him back on campus until this past weekend.

The On3 Consensus ranked Robinson No. 62 in the nation coming out of high school. He was the fourth-ranked defensive end and the top prospect in Maryland for his class. 247Sports ranked him as a five-star player, while On3, ESPN and Rivals all had him as a four-star.
Robinson only spent one season in College Park, but he did play in all 13 games as a true freshman. He totaled 19 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. Because of that, he’ll have three seasons of eligibility with a redshirt available, albeit doubtful.

With Robinson now committed, Penn State has landed three immediate impact players via the transfer portal this offseason. Wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley, from Western Kentucky, was the first incoming transfer to commit. He joined the Nittany Lions on Christmas Eve.
Penn State landed its second incoming transfer about a month-and-a-half later in offensive lineman Hunter Nourzad. A former Football Championship Subdivision All-American at Cornell, Nourzad chose the Nittany Lions over Auburn, Illinois, Iowa and Virginia Tech on Feb. 7.
James Franklin and his staff are still interested in adding more transfers as well.
Former West Virginia defensive lineman Akheem Mesidor visited the weekend prior to Robinson, April 1-2. Formerly a defensive tackle for the Mountaineers, Mesidor would prefer to focus on defensive end at his next school. How Robinson’s commitment impacts him is unclear, but Penn State would add both is possible.
The Nittany Lions also have interest in upgrading their linebacker room, too. However, for the time being, it doesn’t appear as if they’re in the mix with anyone in particular.
