Penn State hosting rising 2023 prospect Thursday afternoon
Penn State is hosting one of Philadelphia’s rising prospects in the Class of 2023 for an unofficial visit Thursday in offensive lineman Naquil Betrand. A three-star prospect from Northeast High School, Betrand committed to Colorado back in March but has been earning plenty of attention ever since.
At 6-foot-6, 320 pounds, Betrand earned an offer from Penn State offensive line coach Phil Trautwein in May. But even before that, a surge of top schools took notice. Texas A&M was one of the first major programs to offer when Betrand visited on April 8. From the end of April to the start of June, he added nine additional offers, including Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Pitt and West Virginia.

Despite Penn State’s ties to his school, we believe this is actually his first visit to State College. Earlier this month, Betrand announced a top 10, despite being committed to the Buffalos. However, he didn’t include the Nittany Lions.
Including Penn State, he’s earned just shy of 20 Football Bowl Subdivision scholarship offers. Betrand is a three-star prospect in the On3 Consensus, coming in at No. 828 nationally. He’s the 57th-ranked offensive tackle and No. 20 overall in Pennsylvania.
He’ll take an official visit to Kentucky this upcoming weekend, June 17-19.
