Another recruiting class is just about complete for Penn State head coach James Franklin and his support staff. Signing 22 players in December, the Nittany Lions don’t have much more to do before National Signing Day, which this year will take place on Feb. 1.

With both the Under Armour All-America Game and the All-American Bowl now behind us, On3’s Director of Scouting, Charles Power, and his staff released the final version of the On300 for the Class of 2023 Tuesday. The update featured a handful of notable changes for Penn State’s class, including another big jump for tight end Andrew Rappleyea, who’s now inside the Top 50 at No. 49 nationally.

A native of Millbrook, N.Y., Rappleyea had a very impressive senior season at Milton Academy in Massachusetts, totaling nearly 500 yards and six touchdowns on just 23 receptions this fall.

Linebacker Tony Rojas also now joins Jven Williams, Alex Birchmeier and Rappleyea inside the top 100. Previously ranked No. 108 nationally, Rojas is now firmly inside the Top 100 at No. 86 nationally.

Two other players that made sizable moves up the rankings are tight end Joey Schlaffer and offensive lineman Anthony Donkoh. Schlaffer moved up 29 spots to No. 158, while Donkoh made the biggest move of all, climbing 57 spots to No. 216 nationally.

Penn State did drop from a dozen committed players inside the On300 to just 11, however. Linebacker Ta’Mere Robinson dropped out from No. 267. Power explained earlier this year that Robinson’s lack of film – he last played a high school game in October 2021 – made for a difficult projection.

As for what’s left, one of Penn State’s top remaining targets for 2023, offensive lineman Chimdy Onoh, also made the cut. The Dundalk, Md., native ranks No. 210 nationally.
