Penn State sets summer football camp schedule for June and July
Penn State has yet to start spring practice, but up in the Lasch Building, they’ve already put together plans for summer prospect camps.
Over the weekend, Blue White Illustrated confirmed that James Franklin and his staff plan to host at least seven on-campus prospect camps this upcoming summer, which is similar to 2021.
The schedule is as follows:
Saturday – June 4 – Whiteout Camp
Sunday – June 5 – Elite Showcase I & Specialist Camp
Friday – June 10 – Lion Strong 7-on-7 & Big Man Challenge
Sunday – June 12 – Elite Showcase II
Wednesday – June 15 – Elite Showcase III

Wednesday – June 22 – Elite Showcase IV
Friday – June 24 – Lion Strong 7-on-7 & Big Man Challenge II
Friday – Jul 29 – Elite Showcase V
There are a few notable changes for 2022 compared to 2021.
The most glaring change is that Penn State plans to host two camps on Wednesday this year. In previous years, camps were always Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Many of those camps fell on Saturday, but Penn State has decided to change that this year.
A major reason why is because they also plan to host dozens of prospects for visits nearly every weekend in June. Not only will official visits be allowed then for 2023 prospects, but underclassmen will also be visiting regularly, in addition to camping with the staff. Saturday tends to be the most important day for both unofficial and official visits.

It’s also notable that PSU plans to host two 7-on-7 tournaments this year. That’s not the first time they’ve done that. Penn State hosted two tournaments in 2019, but that wasn’t the case last year coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 7-on-7 tournaments have been very beneficial for Penn State in previous years. In addition to being able to watch players compete in that setting, Penn State can also work players out while they’re on campus.
Last year, more than 50 teams attended Penn State’s 7-on-7. Saf. KJ Winston, TE Joey Schalffer and DE Neeo Avery all participated and have since committed.
