Penn State hosted four-star defensive lineman and IMG Academy prospect Will Norman for a visit just 10 days ago. On Tuesday, he narrowed his list of schools, and as expected, the Nittany Lions made the cut.

In addition to Penn State, Norman announced on his Twitter feed that seven schools are still in the mix. The other six are Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan and Texas A&M.

“It definitely was an eye-opener,” Norman said, referring to his most recent Penn State visit, which took place March 19. “I’ve been there before, but just seeing everything I didn’t see last time, doing things I didn’t get to do last time, it opened my eyes for sure. When it’s game day, the focus isn’t totally on the recruit. The focus is on winning the game, so I let the coaches do their thing for those visits.

“On visits like this, coming back in the springtime, you get to do so much more. I got to do a tour, got to do that photo shoot. I just got to see everything that I haven’t seen. Also, doing those one-on-one kind of meetings with Coach [James] Franklin and the defensive line coach, Coach [John] Scott. I feel like that was all an eye-opener.”

A native of Camden, N.J., Norman is currently the 125th-ranked player in the nation according to the On3 Consensus. So far this year, he’s taken unofficial visits to Florida and Florida State, in addition to his trip to State College.

Penn State has actually hosted him twice since last season, as Norman also attended the game against Illinois. Out of his top schools, Texas A&M is the only other program that has gotten him on campus. Auburn, LSU and Michigan are all hoping to host him for a visit in the months ahead.

Although Norman said last week that he’d like to be committed by the start of his senior season, he also added that he may take a few official visits during the season.

“I’m trying to go into my senior year committed,” Norman told BWI last week. “I might do my officials during the season though. I’m not sure about that yet. My official for Penn State will most likely be the White Out game. You can’t miss that.”

Currently, Florida is the favorite in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 75.4 percent chance of landing his commitment. Penn State is the next highest with 6.6 percent.

According to On3’s NIL Valuation, Norman is currently worth roughly $12,400 a year. The NIL Valuation is comprised of a number of dynamic data points that focus on two primary factors – an athlete’s social media presence and their level of athletic performance.
