Penn State closing in on Top 10 following updated polls
Penn State is 4-0 to start the 2022 season following Saturday’s 33-14 win over Central Michigan. The Chippewas gave the Nittany Lions a closer game than many expected, but James Franklin’s team played well in the second half, forcing multiple turnovers while also scoring two more touchdowns themselves.
The Nittany Lions were rewarded for their efforts in both the Coaches and Associated Press Polls, moving up three spots in each. That puts Penn State at No. 11 in the AP Top25 and No. 12 in the Coaches Poll. Oklahoma and Arkansas losing helped with two of those spots, while Penn State also jumped ahead of Utah.
Penn State remains the third-ranked Big Ten team in both polls, as Ohio State and Michigan both remain near the top of the polls. The Buckeyes are third in each, with the Wolverines right behind them in fourth. The Nittany Lions’ White Out opponent, Minnesota, is also among the top 25 now. The Golden Gophers rank No. 23 in the Coaches Poll and No. 21 in the AP Top 25.
