Penn State’s football program is back among the Top 10 schools in the country following Saturday’s 17-7 win over Northwestern. The Nittany Lions were last considered a Top 10 program on Oct. 23 of last year. They came into the game against Illinois ranked No. 7 overall following a loss to Iowa the week prior. A nine-overtime loss against the Illini changed everything about the 2021 season.

But now after a 5-0 start, James Franklin and his team go into the bye week with everything to play for heading into a massive three-week stretch in October that’ll determine the outcome of this season. It all starts Oct. 15 at Michigan.

Speaking of the Wolverines, not much has changed at the top of both polls. Ohio State and Michigan both remain among the top four schools in the country, with the Buckeyes sitting in third and Michigan fourth. Minnesota’s loss to Purdue yesterday means that the Big Ten is down to just three schools in both Top 25 polls.

Following back-to-back shaky performances against Kent State and Missouri, Georgia is no longer the top team in the country. Alabama now holds that distinction, although Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young left the game against Arkansas with an injury.

Fans can check out both the Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 below.
