Penn State offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki and his team are preparing for a Boise State team that is second in college football with 51 sacks on the season.

Penn State Nittany Lions offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki spoke with the media on Thursday afternoon in preparation for the team’s Fiesta Bowl matchup with Boise State. He discussed the upcoming game for roughly 20 minutes. You can hear his complete comments embedded in the article below or on the Blue White Illustrated YouTube Channel.

Defensive line sets the tone for Broncos

Kotelnicki was asked what he sees on film from the Boise State defense, which has been one of the most disruptive units in the country up front from a statistical standpoint.

“They play great complimentary defense. They have a great pressure package that compliments their base defense,” Kotelnicki said.

“You see a very disruptive defensive line. You see a defense that makes a team earn their points and not give up easy scores, which is what you expect from a team playing in the playoffs.”

Boise State edge rusher Jayden Virgin-Morgan is tied for 13th in college football with 10.0 sacks. Teammate Ahmed Hassanein is just a few spots back, tied for 20th with 8.5. Overall, the team is second in college football, tallying 51 sacks.

The Broncos didn’t just compile that stat against the Mountain West, either. In a 37-34 loss to eventual Big Ten champion Oregon in week two, Boise State racked up four sacks and seven TFLs.
