Penn State news, notes, and updates for July 31 include plenty of recruiting intel after the Lasch Bash was held on Saturday.

It’s time to dive into Monday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with recruiting, which makes up much of today’s newsstand. The Nittany Lions hosted over 40 prospects for the Lasch Bash on Saturday in State College. They also held a camp Friday and Saturday. One of the visitors, Class of 2026 recruit Noah Grubbs, left town with an offer. The Lake Mary, Fla., recruit is becoming a nationally known prospect, which is surely why offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich nad the Penn State staff got in early.

In other recruiting news, Penn State has the No. 8 Class of 2024 in the country and No. 3 group in the Big Ten according to the On3 Industry Team Rankings.

“Penn State sits in a similar spot to Michigan, as it ranks No. 8 nationally,” Hunter Shelton writes. “All 15 of the Nittany Lions’ four-star commits rank inside the top 300 overall.

“Where PSU differs from both the Buckeyes and Wolverines, however, is its reliance on in-state recruiting, as 33% of the class hails from the Keystone State. Martin and Erie McDowell interior offensive lineman Cooper Cousins, the top two players in the state, are both committed to James Franklin and Co.”

Last but not least, you can watch camp highlights below.

Quote of the day

“Man it was awesome. I just see myself fitting in so well here. It really is a family. Coach [James] Franklin Is one of the best head coaches to do it and the staff he has around him, with Coach Yurcich and Coach [Danny] O’Brien, I couldn’t have been any happier than how [Saturday] ended up. I love everything about Penn State and can’t wait to start making some decisions soon.”
