Penn State welcomed four scholarship transfers this May and the Nittany Lions are still looking for ways to address needs on their 2023 roster. On Friday, the Nittany Lions extended an offer to former Massachusetts cornerback Josh Wallace. The senior went into the Transfer Portal on Thursday as a graduate transfer.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Wallace was a four-year starter and a two-time captain for the Minutemen, who visit Happy Valley on October 14. He racked up 41 tackles and two interceptions last season and was an All-Independent selection. He played in 39 career games at UMass and finished with 140 career tackles, seven tackles for loss, three interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.

Wallace was originally a member of the Minutemen’s Class of 2019 out of DeMatha High School in Maryland. His hometown is listed as Bowie, Md. He is listed as a junior on the official UMass roster and he has two years remaining to play one, as he has not used a redshirt year.

Penn State is his first publicly claimed offer. The Nittany Lions have a hole in the cornerback rotation following the transfer of Storm Duck to Louisville. Penn State brought Duck in from North Carolina for the spring semester, but he chose to head elsewhere after a battle for the starting job with senior Johnny Dixon. The Nittany Lions landed Audavion Collins from Mississippi State earlier this month, but cornerbacks coach Terry Smith is still looking for someone who could provide more of an impact in 2023.
