Penn State football opened spring practice on Monday.

Head coach James Franklin and his staff led newcomers and returners alike through drills on the outdoor practice fields between the Lasch Building and Holuba Hall. All told, we caught many of the key players fans want to see, but a second photo gallery posted later today will feature more faces to know.

“Guys are excited,” Franklin told reporters. “Looking forward to getting out on the grass. We’ll be outside today, get out in the grass and get going.

“Obviously, we have the indoor facility, as well, when needed, but overall we’re looking forward to getting out and getting going.”

In other words, Penn State wants to be out in the sunshine preparing for the season ahead as often as it possibly can be over the next month.
