Penn State news, notes, and updates for Feb. 7 include the team’s strength and conditioning players of the week, plus recruiting nuggets and much more.

It’s time to dive into Tuesday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with the Iron Lions of the week. The Penn State strength staff picked quarterback Beau Pribula, defensive tackle Zane Durant, and linebacker Keon Wylie as their standout performers as winter workouts kick-off. All three second year second-year Nittany Lions will be available during the program’s media availability on Tuesday, which also includes head coach James Franklin and new receivers coach Marques Hagans.

In other news, two priority Penn State targets put the Lions in their list of finalists on Monday. Four-star Virginia receiver Keylen Adams has cut his list of suitors to PSU, Pitt, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

“I feel like those are the schools that are putting in more effort and showing more interest,” Adams told On3.

Penn State, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, South Carolina and Virginia Tech, meanwhile, are still in the running for three-star Virginia safety Noah Jenkins.

“I liked every part of today,” Jenkins told BWI following his Jan. 14 visit to PSU. “The things that stood out to me were things like Coach [James] Franklin explaining how he doesn’t lead us on and show us one side of him when he’s recruiting, but as soon as we get there he acts completely different. He seems like a great coach to be around and have educationally, to learn life lessons and lastly, on the field.

“Also, I like going on a campus and feeling loved. I don’t really like being somewhere where I feel like it’s not real love. I feel like Penn State shows genuine love to me every single time we encounter. Lastly, the way they explained everything about, like how they will help us get a great education and make sure that we graduate with great grades and not just leave college and not get a degree.”

Quote of the date

“Now to be fair, Penn State didn’t blow it out of the water with a top 10 class, or a top-five class, or beat Ohio State in recruiting. But they did do something, and they’ve continued a trend now for two straight years that was really lacking for them three years ago, four years ago. They’ve started to own their own state.”
