Penn State picks up commitment from 2025 defensive end Chaz Coleman
Penn State hosted one official visitor for the White Out win over Washington. On Sunday evening, that visitor committed to James Franklin, Deion Barnes and the Nittany Lions.
Warren (Ohio) Warren G. Harding defensive end Chaz Coleman is the newest Nittany Lion. The 6-foot-4.5, 220-pounder announced via his social media account. His official visit will run through Monday morning.
“I’m excited to announce that I will be continuing my education and athletic career as a [Nittany] Lion,” he wrote. “I’d like to thank everyone who’s been instrumental in getting me to this point. I’m truly honored and beyond grateful
Penn State offered Coleman back in September, as he blossomed as one of the region’s fast-rising prospects. A two-way standout as a quarterback and pass rusher for Harding, the Nittany Lions only needed four games of tape to make the leap. At that point, he totaled 28 tackles, including eight tackles for loss and four sacks. He also picked up a four-star rating from On3 as one of the cycle’s big risers.
“2025 ATH Chaz Coleman makes his rankings debut in this update after displaying some freakish athleticism at both linebacker and quarterback for Warren G. Harding HS (OH). He also displays his explosive athleticism on the hardwood,” wrote On3’s Charles Power.

Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan State Ole Miss and Purdue all offered. Coleman visited East Lansing in September and took an official visit to Kentucky at the end of October. His official visit to Penn State was his first time in Happy Valley.
Coleman carries a three-star rating from the On3 Industry rankings. He’s the No. 599 overall prospect nationally and the No. 22 athlete nationally in the Class of 2025. He’s significantly higher in On3’s own rankings, checking in as the No. 213 overall prospect, No. 5 athlete and No. 10 prospect in Ohio in the cycle.
