Penn State picks up commitment from New Jersey OL Michael Troutman
Penn State has notched a Sunday commitment from Class of 2025 offensive lineman Michael Troutman from Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic. The junior made his announcement via social media on Sunday and became the 11th member of the Nittany Lions’ class.
The 6-foot-2, 275-pound prospect is the third offensive lineman to jump on board with Penn State. He visited Happy Valley four times during the recruiting process, most recently for a Junior Day on Feb. 3.
Penn State offensive line coach Phil Trautwein worked with Troutman at camp last summer and the pair kept up the relationship through his junior season. Troutman was a second-team All-State selection as a junior for the Spartans.
“My biggest thing with Coach Traut is how realistic he is,” Troutman told On3. “He doesn’t sugarcoat anything and tells you things how they are. Something unique about him and what makes him such a great coach is that he not only teaches you about the game of football, but also different things about life as well. It’s been a great experience building a relationship with him.”

Troutman has visited Penn State four times since July
In addition to camp, Troutman also attended the Lasch Bash recruiting barbecue, the season opener against West Virginia and the Nittany Lions’ loss to Michigan in November. Penn State was the third Power Four program to offer back in May of 2023.
“I really liked how interactive the coaching staff was with everyone,” Troutman said of the Nittany Lions. “I also liked how the staff treated each player and parent equally with the same level of respect. As far as highlights of the day go, I loved the intensity and competition levels during the 1-on-1 periods [at camp].”
Troutman is the third commitment for the Nittany Lions who is projected to play on the offensive line at the next level. He joins offensive tackle Owen Aliciene and tight end convert Brady O’Hara in the group. He’s also the third commitment from New Jersey in the Class of 2025, joining linebacker DJ McClary and defensive back Omari Gaines.
