Penn State football continues taking steps toward the start of spring practice.

The Nittany Lions held yet another winter workout on Tuesday. One player who was highlighted by an assistant coach for winning the day did so at a new position.

That fact highlights the newsstand for Feb. 23. It also includes news of a new Class of 2023 offer plus much more.

Let’s dive into the top tweets and headlines about Penn State and college football on Wednesday.

A position switch gets us going today.

Second-year Penn State defender Zakee Wheatley is now working with the safeties. That news was revealed when Anthony Poindexter shouted out the former corner for his work during workouts on Tuesday.

Wheatley redshirted in 2021. The Maryland native did at least experience his first college action, however. He played in four games, which is the maximum to preserve a year of eligibility, and totaled two tackles.

Playing time is available in Poindexter’s room. It will be a surprise if Wheatley doesn’t earn a fair amount of it this fall, even if he’s learning a new spot. He flashed as a freshman, and that should only continue to happen moving forward.

On the recruiting front, Luke Evans is the latest junior to receive a Penn State offer.

The Class of 2023 corner from Pompano Beach, Fla., has offers from all over the place. Georgia also offered Tuesday, as did Kentucky and Arkansas. His lone logged visit to date was to UCF back in January. But, expect that to change moving forward.
