Despite the 2022 regular season ending a week ago, things are getting even busier for the Penn State coaching staff. The college football transfer portal officially opened on Monday, and a flood of names entered from programs all over the country. Making sense of all that is a full-time job, which is why the BWI Daily Edition focuses on the portal activity in and out of Happy Valley through the first 12 hours. Subscribe to the Daily on YouTube, so you don’t miss the live show!

Host Thomas Frank Carr and senior editor Nate Bauer will discuss the names and positions you need to know from the portal. They’ll also take your questions and discuss the topics you want to discuss during the roughly 60-minute live show.

Penn State portal update

It’s been a relatively silent day for Penn State, considering what other schools have been going through since the end of the regular season. Still, the Nittany Lions have lost players in the process, which T-Frank and Bauer will highlight and discuss to start the show. Were there any surprises? They’ll also discuss the larger issues around the portal and how it operates.

Next, they’ll update fans with the players that have publicly announced Penn State offers on social media. T-Frank and Bauer will talk about those players and the brief overviews of what those players would bring to the offense, defense, or special teams. Next, they’ll discuss the top positional needs of the Nittany Lions and what they’ll prioritize in the coming months.

Finally, they’ll put the day’s information into context with everything else going on in the Class of 2023 with high school recruiting.

Rose Bowl Bound

Next, Bauer and T-Frank will discuss Penn State’s bowl destination and opponent. The Nittany Lions will play Utah in the Rose Bowl on Jan 2 in one of the last official games in the history of the event. What did head coach James Franklin say during his comments after the announcement? Bauer and T-Frank will discuss the matchup, and T-Frank will briefly preview what fans should expect from the Utes.

Lastly, Bauer and T-Frank will discuss the Penn State basketball team’s beginning of Big Ten play this week against Michigan State and Illinois. Bauer will give a recap of what head coach Micah Shrewsberry had to say during his weekly press conference and what long-standing issue with the program he addressed with reporters.
