It’s time to dive into Thursday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with a fresh College Football Playoff prediction from CBS Sports. In light of the sport’s power brokers officially adopting the 5+7 expanded model, Chip Patterson puts Penn State at No. 9 for this year’s 12-team field. He matches them up opposite No. 8 Alabama, which would be a home game for the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa.

“There’s a lot to like about Penn State’s chances of being right back in the mix for a 10-win season, starting with quarterback Drew Allar and the one-two running back punch of Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen,” Patterson writes. “James Franklin has two new coordinators taking over this spring with former Kansas OC Andy Kotelnicki on offense and former Indiana coach Tom Allen on defense, but both hires have generated a lot excitement about the Nittany Lions keeping pace as a top-tier team in the expanded Big Ten.”

In other news, former Penn State All-American and Lions letterman Carl Nassib has announced his intent to run for the university’s Board of Trustees. He is currently seeking signatures to get his name onto the ballot.

“I am officially running for a seat on the PSU Board of Trustees,” Nassib wrote on Instagram. “I was recently asked to join and it was too special to pass up. If you are a PSU alum or have attended PSU please click/share the link in my bio to nominate me. This is super exciting and the window ends on 2/25 so hurry up!”
