STATE COLLEGE — Penn State football held its annual Pro Day on Friday here inside of Holuba Hall. Ten Nittany Lions worked out in front of NFL scouts. Two others, projected first-round picks Abdul Carter and Tyler Warren, were in attendance but elected not to partake in the testing and on-field drills as each sits comfortably inside of the top 10 in media mock drafts with less than a month to go before the pro selection process is held in Green Bay at the end of April.

You can find links to full results and more below. First, though, we present our top takeaways from the post-workout interviews.

Vanover not focused on not getting an extra year

BWI’s Sean Fitz was the first to report earlier this year that veteran Penn State defensive end Amin Vanover was petitioning the NCAA for a seventh season via a medical waiver. He never missed a complete season but the number of games he was unavailable for due to injury over the course of his career added up to one.

Despite that fact, Fitz reported in February that Vanover’s request was denied. Speaking about it for the first time Friday, the New Jersey native said he applied for it a couple of weeks after the 2024 season ended. All the while, he was preparing for his shot at the NFL in case the effort failed, which it did. And, the defender did not appeal the decision and has no second thoughts about it.

“I already knew that I might not have this extra year, and I put in the waiver, or whatever you want to call it, to try to get it back,” Vanover said. “But it ended up getting denied. I was already training for Pro Day, just in case. I’m ready for it. I’m excited for what’s next, and actually excited for what I did today.

“You can never could look back on anything. You can’t cry over spilled milk. So, you just got to move forward with life. I mean, things happen in life, and you just got to be prepare for it.”

Vanover measured in Friday at 6-foot-4, 258 pounds.

Kimber turns more than just Penn State teammate’s heads

There was not a ton of hooting and hollering from onlookers during the 40-yard dash session on Friday morning. That all changed after cornerback Jalen Kimber’s first run. He burst out of his stance and stopped the clocks 4.39 seconds later. It was easily the fastest run of the day. And, it would have tied for sixth among cornerbacks who ran at the Combine.

“That’s what I expected,” Kimber said. “I don’t think people probably expected me to run that fast. Or, if they did, I was glad I was able to mark that off their list. But, I knew I was going to do that.”

Kimber, who checked in at 6-foot, 184 pounds, also posted a 33-inch vertical leap that would have been among the top 15 cornerbacks at the Combine, and his 10-foot, 3-inch broad jump also stacks up well among his peers who were in Indianapolis.

After spending just a year at Penn State, Kimber entered Friday with an undrafted free agent projection. Perhaps he still ends up there. But, he at least gave pro decision makers plenty to think about.

He said it

Tyler Warren on his case to be the No. 1 tight end in this year’s Draft:

“That’s not what I focus on. I just know I’m going to be a team player that’s going to come in and do the job and just do whatever I can to help a team win. That’s kind of why I think I’m a good fit to be a football player on the team. You do a lot of work to have the opportunity to even be in a situation where you’re going to be in the draft, right? So to go that high is really cool. But I would just be thinking about all the people that sacrificed and helped me get to this point and the opportunities that I’ve had.”
