It’s time to dive into Thursday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

As NFL mock draft season kicks into overdrive with two weeks to go until this year’s pro selection process, we start with another new two-round projection. This one comes from ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. Like many experts at this point, he is sending former Penn State offensive tackle Olu Fashanu to New Orleans at No. 14. There is no true consensus on where edge rusher Chop Robinson will go, other than in the first round. Kiper Jr., sends him to the Tampa Bay Buccanneers at No. 26 and cites the team’s recent misses on pass rushers as the reason why. The other Nittany Lion he has going off the board during the first two rounds is defensive end Adisa Isaac, who he projects will go to Detroit with the No. 61 overall selection.

“Isaac was overshadowed a bit by Chop  Robinson, but he actually outproduced his teammate last season, racking up 7.5 sacks,” Kiper Jr., writes. “He’s not as explosive as  Robinson, but he’s a well-rounded defender who has an impressive get-off at the snap. At 247 pounds, he could play in the edge-rushing rotation in Detroit, which needs to get more out of its pass-rushers not named Aidan Hutchinson.”

Quote of the day

“As you guys all know, Abdul is very, very talented. The transition has probably gone better and faster than I thought it would. It’s a different world up there [at defensive end]. It sounds good, but it’s a major difference. “And he’s really transitioned very, very well. He’s been physical. He’s been explosive off of the edge. There are still some things he’s learning, but his transition has probably gone better and faster than anticipated.”
