It’s time to dive into Thursday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with the first of what will be at least 10 national All-American teams. Numerous Penn State players made the cut. Starting with CBS Sports, it made Lions left tackle Olu Fashanu a first-team selection. The Maryland native and junior was a second-team choice by some outlets a year ago. CBS also listed punt returner Daequan Hardy as a third-team All-American. At Sports Illustrated, Fashanu was a first-team selection. Linebacker Abdul Carter was a second-team choice. The staff at The Athletic also has Fashanu as a first-team selection.

“The projected top-10 draft pick lived up to the billing in his second season as a starter, especially in pass protection,” The Athletic writes. “Per PFF, Fashanu has allowed up just 10 pressures in 382 pass-block snaps. The 6-foot-6, 317-pound left tackle has not given up a sack in his college career.”

More All-American teams will come out in the days ahead. Pro Football Focus also released its this week. The only Nittany Lion included was defensive end Chop Robinson. He was a second-team choice. Robinson and Fashanu are also first-team All-Big Ten picks by The Associated Press.
