STATE COLLEGE — Penn State quarterback Drew Allar left Saturday’s game against Rutgers with an undisclosed injury. The second-year Nittany Lion and first-year starter took off on what appeared to be a designed run and picked up eight yards before a collision with Scarlet Knights’ defender Flip Dixon in the third quarter. He was hit in the upper body, with contact on his right shoulder. Allar threw an incomplete pass before exiting the game. He went right to the program’s sideline injury tent.

Beau Pribula took over with Allar sidelined. He ran for 39 yards on his first play to put Penn State in the red zone. However, the Lions were stuffed on 4th and 1. Allar exited the injury tent following the series. He stood on the sideline, favoring his right shoulder, and appeared to be in significant discomfort. His status for the remainder of the game is unclear. At the time of the injury, Penn State led Rutgers 10-6. It got a quick defensive stop. Pribula started the next series.
