Penn State quarterback Drew Allar talks on newcomer Julian Fleming: 'He's looked really good'
Penn State quarterback Drew Allar was one of the six players who spoke at the Nittany Lions’ event that toured THON Explorers program at Holuba Hall on Saturday. The second-year starter was one of many players on hand as many members of the program welcomed visitors into the team’s main training center. After the event, the top topic with the passer was incoming transfer Julian Fleming, who joined the program back when the spring semester started in January.
Drew Allar talks new Penn State receiver Julian Fleming
“He’s looked really good,” Allar said of Fleming. “I think he brings a lot of experience and a lot maturity to that room. I think he’s just a really good add for our room not only skill wise but personality off the field wise. He’s been great so far. Obviously he’s been doing his thing in the weight room and out on the field when we get off those opportunities. And then, he’s doing really well when we’re doing our throwing as a team. So I’ve been nothing but impressed with Julian and he handles everything the right way and approaches everything like a pro.”
Allar also shared his thoughts on learning Fleming, a former top recruit in the Keystone State, was joining Penn State after multiple years at Ohio State.

“I was really excited because I was able to meet him in person when he took a visit here the one day and I was able to kind of connect with him. Just kind of give him my phone number and things like that. When he actually told me that he was coming here, I was very excited just because I knew the type of player he was throughout his career so far, and the type of player he wants to be. I think he’s just a great addition to our room again, just because of how versatile he is as a receiver. He’s a great, great, not only receiver, but he’s a great blocker, and he can do a lot of different things that most receivers aren’t willing to do. And I think he just brings a great presence so that room.”
