LOS ANGELES — Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford will finish his six-year career with the Nittany Lions in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 2. Then, he knows the next steps that he will take to try and continue his time on the gridiron.

The Cincinnati, Ohio native who holds multiple program records is not looking beyond Utah, however. He made that clear during a media event here on Thursday. But, he is well aware that his final snaps and moments with his teammates are on the horizon. Clifford is savoring those before his next chapter begins.

“It’s been been a blast,” Clifford said. “I think that’s kind of what I have going for me, compared to guys who might have been younger in the position that they’re in about leaving and going to the next level.

“I’m ready for it. I know it was coming. So, I’ve been able to really recognize that, enjoy these last moments, and just have a blast this week. It’s been so much fun. I’m excited for my last game. I’m excited to represent Penn State one more time and do it in a big fashion like the Rose Bowl.”

What’s next for Sean Clifford after his time at Penn State is complete?

Clifford has been successful in State College. Off the field, he runs a name, image, and likeness agency, LimitlessNIL, and has two college degrees. On the field, he has led Penn State to more than 40 wins and is the school’s all-time record holder for completion percentage (.612), completions (817), passing yards (10,382), passing touchdowns (84), and passing attempts (1,335). That’s so even though he’s often been a lightning rod for fan criticism due to inconsistent play over the course of his tenure.

All that said, the senior was cheered during Senior Day and will be again in the Rose Bowl. Then, his journey with the Lions will be complete. A new one will begin shortly after it, and the quarterback already has a plan for it.

“I’ll be going down to Miramar, Florida to go train and then just get ready for everything to come and put my best foot forward for the NFL,” Clifford said.

“Really excited to take on that journey, obviously after the Rose Bowl. [I’m] not trying to get ahead of myself. Take one step at a time to continue to complete my dream, and just to continue to keep on playing football. I love the game. So really excited about my next steps and my next parts of this journey.”
